2023 CMQT Symposium
October 26 & 27, 2023 | Evanston, IL
Welcome Symposium Participants
On behalf of the Paula M. Trienens Institute for Sustainability and Energy, we are delighted to welcome you to the third annual symposium of the Center for Molecular Quantum Transduction (CMQT), a US DOE-sponsored Energy Frontier Research Center.
Quantum information science seeks to harness the fundamental quantum nature of matter and energy to greatly advance computation, communication and sensing having major implications for both the U.S. and global economies. Quantum-to-quantum transduction is the coherent exchange of information between quantum systems, which is an essential element of quantum information science.
The CMQT mission is to develop the fundamental scientific understanding needed to carry out quantum-to-quantum transduction. Molecular architectures provide unmatched flexibility for tailoring the properties that are critical to quantum transduction, and molecular synthesis affords the opportunity to build novel molecular materials from the bottom-up, both of which are at the heart of our research. The CMQT interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, and materials scientists is working to develop molecular systems that offer an exceptional opportunity to explore the interfaces between quantum systems essential for quantum information science.
This year, our principal investigators will meet on October 26 to discuss strategies for an upcoming renewal proposal followed by a late afternoon keynote address by David Awschalom (University of Chicago). On October 27, symposium speakers include Mark A. Eriksson (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Stephen Wilson (UC, Santa Barbara), Laura Gagliardi (University of Chicago), Jens Koch (Northwestern University), Paul S. Weiss (UCLA), and James Rondinelli (Northwestern University).
We look forward to seeing you in October.
Sincerely,
Michael R. Wasielewski
